Art at the World Ocean Celebration

Inspiring Action Through Creativity

Since the inception of the World Ocean Celebration in 2021, art has been a critical element of our mission, serving as a powerful bridge between marine conservation and community engagement. Every year, we invite one visionary artist to design our signature Ocean Flags, which are proudly displayed along the beach and across many different venues throughout the festival. To date, this initiative has commissioned 6 to 7 unique Ocean Flags each year, building a stunning, growing collection of 37 Ocean Flags that bring the vibrant message of ocean advocacy to life.

Community, Collaboration, and Evolution

Beyond the shore, our art program deeply invests in the next generation of changemakers. In the months leading up to the festival, an invited artist leads immersive workshops with students from the Overtown Youth Center, Motivational Edge, and Breakthrough Miami. Together, they co-create meaningful artworks that are showcased at the annual festival, giving local youth a powerful platform and a voice in ocean conservation. As the festival grows, our creative canvas continues to evolve; every year we introduce dynamic new elements, including our breathtaking collaboration with National Water Dance in 2024 and the cutting-edge Ocean Frequencies digital art showcase in 2026.
